Yum!!

I am so excited about my garden!!! Remember the sweet potato that I grew? And the pumpkin? Well today I made sweet potato and pumpkin soup and it is soooooo Yum. I cannot believe how much better it tastes than other times I have made it. I am now so excited that I am going to grow as much as I can. I am seeding potato's and I will do the same with the pumpkin seeds from my garden. How cool would it be to not have to buy any vegetables at all!!. Let's see if I can do at least half :).

I have finished sewing up all the leaves, here they are, they look so good in person. ....

Just started on free motion with the leaves and loving it already, just doing them a little different this time, instead of giving vines I am just doing lines on the fat end.

And thanks for the creative help from Sam I now have a idea's board :) and a gorgeous one to boot. It was so easy and of course I had the fabric in my cupboard :) so cheap too.

Off to watch some more Olympics, what has been your favourite event so far? I am loving the swimming of course but they also showed some slalom and that was very cool to watch.

New

Ok so this is what I am working on now.
I am sewing the leaves onto the wash away, I will be filling them in with a lighter green and then as it is called, I will just wash away the filmy fabric and the leaves are just left.

Then I will stick them on these vines

I am not so sure about the tree, something is off and I don't like the symmetry or something about it.
Needs more light green leaves maybe?

So here's to trying something different :)
Anyone reading anything interesting lately? I need to find some more great authors with tens of books to their name :).  Also I am again starting the menu planner, are there meals that you love that you could  share with me? I saw a show where each night had a theme - monday roast night, Tuesday Mexican etc. Weighing up whether that would be easier. Just want to try different meals.

A Vege Patch!!

Well on the weekend with the help of a great man :) my dad, we started a vege patch.

We have capsicum, oregano, baby carrots, broccoli, lettuce, tomato, strawberries and spring beans. The kids were so excited and claimed plants and had big fights over which one was theirs :). So we are waiting for some crops now.
In the mean time, while we cleaned out the garden, we found these....
Some left over crop from the last batch of sweet potato, so I will be growing some more of these too, once I get a bit more space.
Now I am just hoping that that gorgeous baby possum I have seen around does not have dinner in our garden :).

A Few Things

Well it's been a while, school holidays takes it out of me.

We went for a few walks over the holidays, when it wasn't raining and we saw a koala and her baby. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen. This tiny tiny koala. If I could have I would have climbed the tree and taken it home :) They were awake and eating and movng through the tree. I see koalas on my walk occasionally, but they are usally sleeping. So it was very cool to see them up and about :).
I have some photo's but of course they aren't very good :)

Left side is the baby Koala, hanging on a thread of a branch!!

Then a few weeks ago we saw a bird on the neighbours ariel and had never seen anything like it before, so we took some photo's and thought about finding out what it was. Then today, the bird came visiting again. And with a friends help, we think that it is a spotted drongo :) rare and not sure if they are in Australia very much. Wohooo a rare bird :) So I am going to do some more research into it.

Fantail...

Gorgeous iridescent blue wings, with a cute fairy wren? as company :)

As well, I have finally finished the America quilt. I just need to bind it. I am sooo glad I finished it. I forgot how much effort big quilts were. Next up is going to be soooo fun. Will show you when I have something in front of me instead of in my head. I am not sure if I even like it or am happy with it.

So I looked up some of my shows I love to watch, Sanctuary, Burn Notice and The Closer and Warehouse 13... they have cancelled Sanctuary!! That was a good scifi show, really really enjoyed it. They also cancelled Fringe but I had stopped watching that anyway, so maybe why it was cancelled, all because of me hehehehe. But thankfully Burn Notice is still going and The Closer is ending season 7. Warehouse 13 renewed, life is good when there are some okay shows to watch :) What do you like to watch?
And talking about tv, the Tour DeFrance is amazing!! Totally love watching that too. Poor Cadel Evans took a bad hit yesterday, so here's to Aussies never giving up :) If you have watched it, do you think that the riders arms are super skinny?? I think the lead guy at the moment Bradley Wiggins has the skinniest arms, it is kind of weird and yucky. I don't know how they cycle for hundreds of km's every day for weeks!!.

Here's hoping the rain stops here, all week and you really want that sun back.
